the
FORUM
for
EARLY
CHILDHOOD ORGANIZATION and
LEADERSHIP
DEVELOPMENT
ADVOCACY
and the
LEGISLATIVE
PROCESS
Current and emerging leaders in early childhood
education and care are making their voices heard in the state legislature
through increased communication and advocacy efforts. Understanding the
legislative process is crucial to the ability to share meaningful dialogue about
issues. As term limits loom for lawmakers, the onus is on advocates to
serve as resources for legislative staff and incoming senators and
representatives. The remarks
presented here reflect the ideas, views and opinions of speakers attending the
briefing - they do not necessarily represent the views, ideas and opinions
of The Forum for Early Childhood Organization and Leadership Development,
Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership, L.P. Cookingham Institute of Public
Affairs, Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration, or the
University of Missouri-Kansas City.
The Forum and the Midwest Center express their appreciation to the Governor's
Commission on Early Childhood Care and Education, to legislators and to early
childhood advocacy experts for their contributions to the public policy issues
forums.
