A Professional Development
Program Series
Designed Specifically for
the Staff of Foundations and Other Grantmaking Organizations
The 2004-05 Kansas City Grantmaker’s
Institute, a professional development program designed to enhance the
success of program officers and other professional grantmakers was held
on November 23, 2004; January 25, 2005; March 22, 2005; and May 24,
2005. The Institute is a series of three-hour sessions that will
provide grantmakers with the practical knowledge, tools, and resources
that will be useful in their day-to-day work. Further, the series
includes time during each session for dialogue about the larger trends
and issues of the field of philanthropy, with emphasis on how they are
affecting Kansas City philanthropy and grant making. Some sessions
will include facilitated panel discussions drawing upon the expertise
and insights of experienced Kansas City leaders, as well. The content

grantmaking professionals, so participants are expected to subscribe to
